McCaffrey Fine Art is proud to announce an exhibition of paintings by Kazuo Shiraga (1924-2008). This is McCaffrey Fine Art’s second exhibition of the artist’s work in New York following the critically acclaimed exhibition Kazuo Shiraga: Six Decades in 2009.
Kazuo Shiraga’s distinct and inimitable style of foot painting emerged in 1954 and remained a constant throughout his career. Painting with large amounts of oil paint on the floor he swung from a rope attached to the ceiling and used the longer armature of the foot, leg, torso and arms to create abstract compositions of tactile ferocity and kinesthetic splendor.
